Bill Clarke letters : ALS and TDS, 1968-1970.

Letters from Clarke, mainly to his aunt, Mildred Clarke, written during his tour of duty in the United States Army in Vietnam. The letters begin during basic training in Fort Lewis, Wash. and continue to officers' training camp in Fort Benning, Ga. Most of the letters are written from Vietnam, where Clarke, now a Sergeant, served as a radio producer for the Public Information Office, First Cavalry Division, at Phuoc Vinh, with temporary assignments at the American Forces Viet Nam (AFVN) in Saigon, where he also worked in television production and news. Some focus on allegations and related Congressional hearings on censorship at AFVN; and on Clarke's role in the production of a documentary about U.S. military action in Cambodia.
